🏴 Join PR30 Cohort 2- A 30 Day Video Obsession Challenge - Sign up by end of day Wednesday 6/12/24

For The Obsessed

PR (Press Record) 30. A 30 Day Video/Obsession Challenge.

Announcement: I’m launching Cohort 2 of PR30- A 30 day video/ content creation challenge.

In April, we did Cohort 1. 40+ creators joined, and many completed it in a life-changing fashion. So I’m launching the challenge again- but better.

Here’s what’s being changed/added, and a few testimonials from creators who crushed it in April:

PR30 (Cohort 1) Kickoff Call

PR30 a 30 day video content challenge. Post one video per day, for 30 days. Designed for anyone who wants to:

  • Get over procrastination / perfectionism with making content

  • Figure out what you should create around

  • Go from writing → video content (what I did)

  • Get better at video content

  • Become a more confident speaker (online/offline)

  • Has a ton of ideas/experience- but hasn’t found the perfect package/constraint to share them

Cohort 2 begins next Wednesday 6/12/24. The challenge starts that day. You can sign up until end of day then (midnight EST).

Get instant access to the PR30 Slack when you join.

Keep reading to learn what it’s about, what it’s included in the cost, and why you should or shouldn’t sign up:

First, some quick testimonials from the first cohort, that explain the benefits better than I can:

Reka is an incredible artist.

Her reflection on PR30:

“I joined because perfectionism was getting in the way of me posting as regularly as I would want. What this challenge effectively did- is it wiped out my perfectionism. It forced me to analyze my content, and find a way- like a minimal viable product- for what I could post every single day, and not completely wreck my life.”

“As I would go through the challenge- I noticed I needed less scripting. I didn’t need to cut out ‘ums’ as much. All the greats will tell you this- you just need to to knock out a bunch of videos when you’re starting out.”

“I’ve never had anything else so significantly impact my ability to produce content consistently. I feel like I made so much progress in that month.”

Check out one of her videos below (that blew up during the challenge). It’s so good.

Rien is an infectiously energetic creative and athlete. He is building Unofficial Run Club (one of the biggest in the world, based in Australia), as well as Fortem Media (global creative agency). He destroyed the challenge with incredible consistency.

On PR30: “It’s something I feel like I needed. It’s more than money well spent. You’re investing in yourself, you’re investing in your future, your ability to articulate ideas. But also move at a quick pace. It’s that power, that speed, of moving the particle inch by inch by inch, and getting it out, and then moving on to the next one- that will see you make waves and make changes in this world.”

The Challenge:

RULES/WHAT IT IS:

  1. Post 1 video per day, for 30 days.
You can post on any platform (YouTube, IG, TikTok, Twitter) though most in PR30 focused on YouTube, which I recommend. 5-20 minute videos. Then, you can cut up clips for short-form on IG, TikTok, Twitter, etc. But minimum requirement is a short-form video on any platform, at least 1 minute.

  2. Press record. Tell the truth. Document your thoughts, your mission, anything.

You don’t need fancy edits, or a fancy camera. Just press record, and talk about what you care about.
Document your ideas. Your life. Building your company. Anything you want.
I recommend thinking of it like a ‘video journal.’
There’s no strict guidelines on what your videos should look like. It can be a sit down talking video, a vlog, anything. All that matters is posting something.

  3. Upload before you go to sleep. Anyone who fails will be removed from the official challenge/private group. (You can obviously continue on your own.)

WHAT YOU GET SIGNING UP:

  1. Get instant access to the private PR30 Slack Channel when you join. With access to myself, and other obsessed creators doing the challenge.

  2. Four live group calls (45min, 1/week), Wednesdays 6:30PM EST. Recorded if you can’t make it. Get feedback/advice from me. Ask questions to others. Chat with creators doing the challenge.

  3. Paid accountability. Skin in the game. Spending money adds a real layer of commitment to actual finish the challenge.

  4. Get the feeling of obsession. I think ‘Obsession Challenges’ can be a very big tool for making meaningful change in just one month- whether that’s in art, or athletics, or business. Let yourself get consumed by a new craft, and your life can change very, very fast. There’s an incredible feedback loop of iteration and discipline- when you’re forced to show up daily.

PLUS (NEW IN COHORT 2):

  • 24/7 Slack DM access to me, for the duration of challenge, to answer questions on content creation, obsession, life (anything you’d like). Consider me your personal content coach for the month.

  • 100 Bullets on Content. A short ebook/document with notes I have on what makes unique creators, and how they go on exponential growth (shared in Slack on 6/12/24). These are basically all my ‘secrets’- since I started making content five+ years ago.

  • Moderators (besides myself) who will be involved in Slack, helping with challenge.

  • BONUS- THE FIRST 10 WHO JOIN WILL GET A PRIVATE 30 MINUTE CALL WITH ME (IN ADDITION TO THE WEEKLY LIVE CALLS)

Sign up before the challenge begins- end of day of next Wednesday 6/12/24. (midnight EST).

Why this challenge exists:

Two reasons:

  1. I believe authentic creators, that feel like real humans, will be the only ones that matter.

  2. Having a daily constraint- forces you to show up, create something, and shows you much you’re truly capable of. Achieving that ‘daily win’ transfers beyond the challenge, and makes you realize how much you can actually do in a single day.

On Reason 1:

Everyone is tired of consuming ‘content.’

No one wants more podcast clips. No one wants more over-edited YouTube videos, with clickbait and fast cuts.

All the world wants now, is something real.

For someone to look in the camera, show who they really are, and what they really care about.

It’s incredibly rare.

But when you see it, it’s obvious. And creators who do this, consistently, build the deepest connection possible with their audience. They feel like a best friend. And often, this rare authenticity builds them into some of the biggest creators in the world.

I waited five years to start making video content.

Five. Years.

I was posting on my Instagram the entire time, but never made the jump to video. I was afraid of what I’d talk about it. If I could talk well. If anyone would listen.

Since I started about five months ago, it completely changed my life.

Since posting my face more, I’ve gotten incredible opportunities- through people who knew my content, but finally know me through video.

I’ve become incredibly confident speaking to a camera, small groups, or even at dinners.

I communicate like a different person.

Posting daily- it is an incredible feeling of output, productivity, and speed.

It’s addicting. Like a drug that hits every time you hit upload.

And what happens is- you’re pushed to do more in your life, so that you have to more document. It’s an incredible feedback loop.

And the amount of iteration is insane. In terms of your videos, your ideas, and your speaking ability.

After just these + some reels, I speak with more confidence than I ever have. My relationship with my followers/readers is unbelievably deeper.

I had reach and trust before, but showing my face, and just being me, created real connection.

Like I said, people feel like they know ‘me.’ Because they do. As a byproduct, all my ideas and writing on obsession resonate 1000x more.

Plus, talking out loud is an underrated way to work through your own ideas/goals. Speaking forces you to connect the thoughts in your head, in real time.

I tweeted this below after the first challenge, and it went semi-viral:

Excuse the typos- but this interaction proves my point. Everything is going towards over-optimization for algorithms.

Personalities- real people- will matter much more than those who make ‘content.’ Because content is everywhere, and unlimited. But ‘people’ are 1/1.

And briefly on Reason 2 (the power of showing up daily):

When I did this challenge to start the year- it lit a fire in me like I never had before. In the year prior, making a YouTube video felt like a monumental task. Like it would take weeks for me to make one.

Then, it became a part of my daily routine. I had no choice. Beautiful things happen when you give yourself no choice. That constraint did three things:

  1. Pushed me to do more in life- so I had something to make videos about

  2. Made me realize I can get so much more done in one day

  3. Put me in a mode of non-stop creation

Action is an incredible addiction. This reason alone- in my opinion- makes this challenge worth it.

Creators like Sahil Bloom shifted rapidly this year (Sahil has 1M+ on Twitter), to making raw video-style content.

It was great to see Danny Miranda start his daily video journey recently as well:

And below is a video from Kevin Espiritu (founder of Epic Gardening- 3M+ subscribers)- on why the next era of YouTube will be around authentic creators- and his advice in this arena.
